Red, White, & Blue Overnight French Toast Bake

Southwest Egg White Scramble with Red, White, & Blue
Overnight French Toast Bake
Are you looking for a simple and delicious recipe to celebrate a patriotic holiday?
This is the perfect recipe to try out. Prep it the night before and simply place it
in the oven in the morning while making the syrup.

Red, White & Blue Overnight French Toast Bake

Ingredients:

  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup of flour
  • 1 T. sugar---I replaced regular sugar with coconut sugar
  • 1 loaf of french bread or any bread you have around the house will work
  • 1/2 package of cream cheese, cut into pieces
  • 16 oz. bag of frozen berries, I used mixed berries
Directions: (for the night before)

  1. Mix together eggs, vanilla, salt, milk, flour and sugar. Beat well. Add bread to soak. Pour into greased 9 x 13″ pan. Cut cream cheese into 1/4 tsp pieces and drop onto bread mixture. Sprinkle berries on top (as many as you like).
  2. Store in the fridge for 8 hours
In the Morning:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees
  2. Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown
While the french toast is baking in the oven you can prepare the syrup

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
Directions:

  1. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat
  2. When the butter has melted add the sugar and buttermilk, bring to a boil
  3. Remove from heat and add the vanilla and baking soda
